What is SWBFSpy exactly ?
It is a Masterserver replacement for GameSpy. It works just as GameSpy did.
My game was downloaded from Steam, how can I patch it?
Your game is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) or Star Wars Battlefront (2004). Look for the Battlefront.exe or BattlefrontII.exe file (depends on your game), and there is where you have to add the patch/download after extracting. You can patch the file yourself. This is all you have to patch using a Hex Editor and replace "gamespy" with "swbfspy":

What is a Masterserver?
It is where all servers are hosted. Basically when you go to the game server browser you are able to see all the servers hosted in the masterserver. This means that SWBFSpy does not affect other files or mods.
